I have begun a new daily structure. It has been provided for me by a business course, and this has been my first week in it. You know the bit in The Poseidon Adventure where the escape team have to climb the Christmas tree frame and if they don't (or can't- "You spoke only for the strong!") then they'll certainly drown? With faith and love in God, they'll drown trapped in the once-upper-now-lower layers of the boat. Drowning- what a terrible way to go. Maybe. Maybe it would be alright. "You spoke only for the strong!"
"I'm asking you to be strong!"
There was a lot of shouting in that movie.
Not surprising, I guess. Very stressful working environment.
Anyway, in my new colour-coded calendar that is my new religious practice framework; an addiction to help with all the addictions, it says I have to type up any blog posts I have channeled in my diary. I have channeled some useful bits and bobs about inner child healing, and some reflections on The White Lotus and inner masc/femme balance, but it's all in pencil and hard to read and I'm tired so what I've done is I've just read all of it back and now I'm freetyping and we'll see what happens. I also went a fair way further with my integration of The Heroine's Journey:
The significance of that break away from the wheel.
Because *someone said* "The Heroine's Journey is a spiral" and, having not read the book at all, relying instead on summaries and diagrams, I was not able to understand what this meant. On Sunday, I understood this:
The Hero's Journey continuously circles round. The Heroine's Journey has a point of departure from the cycle. The Hero's Journey repeats, sure, a new adventure begins and a new adventure begins and a new adventure begins. We can consider Lord of the Rings our best example. "Damn, Daniel, back at it again with the one ring!"As the process repeats, the same events do not. The Hero experiences unending forward character development following the same pattern of 'face, struggle and overcome.' *This*, I would consider, is the spiral. Yes, I am calling Flaw on "The Heroine's Journey is a spiral"; though it was a good prompt to follow. Imagine, the circle of the story happens, and the line follows round in front of the last one, forward spiralling with the old stories winding small away into the distant centre. A wormhole. Remember Apple's Time Machine? Snapshots of your computer's system that you could wind back to to restore old settings or rescue files you'd deleted. It's a bit like that. If we forget the old spirals, we can forget things that already happened way back and left some bug in us still, so that when it repeats it repeats almost exactly the same and we've got absolutely no clue because we can't remember the time it happened that way before.
This is The Hero's Journey.
History repeating itself unless we pay wise heed to the struggles and pitfalls of the past.
The point of departure from the wormhole afforded by The Heroine's Journey is the thing.
Off we shoot, out of the wheel of the known, the repeated; off we fly, into the magic of the void- formless, unrepeating, unrepenting, amoral, sacred fire.
There is a chance it is merely part of the movement into a new spiral. This, I don't care about. The point is the moment of departure from the wormhole. Nirvana.
That's it, I'm done.
